Safe Routes to School™

Following a local authority initiative Safe Routes to School™ was designed as a way to encourage younger school children to follow safe routes to school and discourage them from straying into the road.

Even with only one set of directional footprints, this innovative system has proven highly effective. Children were asked if they would still follow the footprints even though they were travelling in the opposite direction and 100% said yes.

The system has now been applied in several different areas with equal success.

The footprints are resin bonded into the paving for permanent use.
